I just think the usual plastic rubbish you put in is a waste of money and think party bags can get out of hand, my son has a great group of friends but dont want him to suffer over this.

  1. I used to go over board as party bags go and if another party came up I still would do but the best party my kids went to was held by a good friend and all she gave as the kids left their parties was a choice of bitesize sweets off a plate - all were pleased - so do not pander to other kids needs, be bold and confident

  2. balloons are always fun, the other suggestions of pencils and erasers are good too. powerballs are also good. i dont like the plastic stuff either, but a small useful gift needn't be pricey.

    good luck

  3. no i think kids would prefer sweets my kids would

  4. no its not awful to only put sweets and cake in to the party bags cause kids love sweets and really just want to have a really good time at the party, in most party bags if you go to like a ball pool play area you just get cake, a few bags of sweets, a lollypop and them party blowers and may be a ballon and if its a party at a house or somewhere you need to make your own party bay you will get cake sweets a balloon and maybe a little toy or pencil rubber and notebook.

sometimes the little toys that you get in party bags are the ones kids play with most ... like my 5 yr old cousin always plays with little cars or toys that he gets free with mc donalds when he goes he loves subway now , are the toys he plays with most like he has the airblad, and two other mote control cars and lots of other stuff but would rather play with little cars or play football or go on the trampoline in the garden or any other sports.

if you dont wont to put little plastic toys in the party bags why not put in a pencil, notebook and rubers in the bag cause most kids will use them, you could also get ones with football on to go with the theme of his party,or if you dont wont to spend out more money you could just buy plain pencils or a muli pack of football pencils and just plain rubbers and notebook as you can get big pacs for cheap like poundland or home bargin or buy it from wholesalers cause you will be getting more that 1.

heres some links to buy stuff for party bags, you could buy them a little stationary set for 75p a set and you get a pencil, 3 rubbers and stickers

also from http://www.partydelights.co.uk/product_d... you can get mini football , pencils , notebooks, whistle and medals

http://www.greatlittleparties.co.uk/acat... they have a lot of football things here too, like football invitations, football party bags, football plates, football cups napkins and other football table wear, banners, ballons, party games, hats, party blowers, streamers, horns , whistles , maze puzzle pencils, stickers notepads medals and candles.

you could but a little plastic medal in the party bag, children will love to have one and feel real proud of them selves cause my cousin got one for sports day just the plastic ones for sports day and was made up and was really happy. i have seen them in woolworth in a pk of 8 but dont know how much they are and you can get them from here for 40p a medal

don't worry your son won't suffer over it if you just put sweets and cake in the party bag, there only young and proberly will not care that there is no toy in there, so dont worry about what your putting in the party bag, just make sure the kids at the party have a great time and that your kids has a great day. kids just want to have fun and have a great time with there friends at the party.

    hope this helps

  5. No it's not. Just put some sweets and cake in there and you'll be fine.

  6. Try Oriental Trading Co. for cheap, quantity favors & decorations (website) .....   My daughter tends to throw most of the candy away, from the goodie bags that my grandkids bring home - so alot of candy would be a waste of money too.   Try  Superballs;  yo-yos;  whistles;  Nerf footballs;  slinkys;  silly putty eggs;  plastic waterguns .... Kids that age LIKE the cheap trinket stuff and it isn't bad for their teeth:)

  7. Useless bits and pieces are a waste of money. Things to eat are far better. Try adding satsumas and a banana, anything with a peel on

  8. I think its great that you are taking a stand and going back to the traditional party bag. I wish every Mum would follow your lead, my nephews son came home from a 5yr old's party last week with a bag which had cost £11.75, the  birthday boy told him it was better than his party bag the week before

  9. How about going to a trophy store and getting little minature football trophies?  You could give these out as favors instead of food items.

  10. Quite frankly, I'm like you and think this party bag mularky is totally out of hand, heck, I'm 23 in a few months, but even I remember coming home from a party with just a bit of sponge birthday cake with some lurid coloured icing on the top and that was it! I was shocked to see my niece come home the other week with a Bratz doll, a CD single some hair slides and enough chocolate for a week! If you feel you ought to do a bit more, buy a cheap colouring book and photocopy pictures (costs roughly 5p a copy) of airplanes and dinosaurs for them to take home to colour in.

  11. Yes, go to the dollar store and get a few packs of party supplies. Or instead of gift bags just get them each something small that they like. ie Pokemon cards, or activity books.  Kids now a days don't need to gain any more weight.

  12. You could put something they might use like pencils and erasers in football shapes.  Kids always like candy, I don't think they will complain about that.  However, I find that the little crappy plastic toys give them a little more to do at the party.

  13. yeh of course its ok not to put the plastic gadgets and toys in.like you say it does get out of hand and you end up spending a fortune,i think cake and sweets is more than enough, and if anyone asks your son can say well their more of a little kid/baby thing.im sure he will be fine x

  14. Do not worry go with the flow the team will love them.

  15. Maybe you could try and find pencils or little note books with footballs on to put in the party bags.

If not I'm sure it won't matter.

  16. DON'T WORRY, BE HAPPY''

  17. My brothers mate [same age] gives people summat from the £1 shop like i dunno a car/notepads/pens/pencils/keyrings.

Go on ebay n buy a mass product of summat like party things n give them one of them.....

    or make chocolate apples...
