  1. I don't think there is any polite way to ask for money. You are giving yourself the party.

  2. You need a "friend" to organize a few money making games

  3. The easiest and best way is......

On going away invites,  be sure people know where you are going....College (is the only reason you only want money and only valid reason to ask for money only)

With the associated college costs so high, it would be greatly appreciated  in lieu of purchasing pysical gifts, if I could receive monetary assistance so that college costs will be easier for myself (and family) to handle. An education is the most important thing in my life at this time and this would greatly assist me.

  4. It's very rude and impolite to ask people for money!!!

  5. For my wedding, I had written,"Monetary gift preferred"...I knew that I was going to get crappy stuff anyways because I know people have bad taste. I got at least $6-7 thousand dollars that day. I also had a few wrapped gifts and I was right....c**p!!!

  6. You could try saying "monetary gifts are appreciated" or "monetary gifts rather than personal gifts are appreciated".  You could also try having a dinner and charging so much a plate.  Call it your personal fund raising dinner...just make sure you put this on the invitations.  I know some people think it's rude to ask for money, but most people understand when you do something like this.

  7. WELL that depends on if the party is for yourself or for someone going away,,,If its for you,,,NO way can you ask,BUT if its for someone leaving than the Money Tree is perfectly OK,, just let the guest know that the person leaving could really need some extra cash to help them on their journey<<<

  8. You NEVER ask for money, gifts, or direct gift-giving in any particular direction.  That is just tacky.

You might get the hose of the party (surely you're not hosting your OWN going away party?) to mention *if someone asks* that you sure need cash, but leave it up to them.

  9. You could ask for people to "sponser" your party. The rhyme is up to you. If you are in financial need, or have a specific goal you are trying to reach, be sure to say so. IT IS NOT RUDE TO ASK FOR MONEY AS OTHERS HAVE STATED. IF YOU NEED HELP, ASK. DON'T JUST SUFFER THROUGH IT WHEN YOU CAN EASILY GET HELP FROM YOUR FAMILY AND TRUE FRIENDS.

  10. Ask for donations for your "college fund" in a fun and creative way.  You could pass around a hat after you give a moving speech about your goals and aspirations.  Tell a number of jokes after you've passed out a round or two of drinks to make people more willing to donate.

Another idea would be to play a game where everyone has to chip in $20 to play.  The winner will get a cool "prize" but the rest will go to your "college fund."

  11. The reason that you can't figure out how to word it is because you already know that it is rude to ask people for money.

  12. If a friend of mine had a going away party and asked for money, I probably wouldn't be their friend anymore. Don't do it! It's ghetto!

  13. You can't with any couth.  Most people know that a going away party is a call for cash.  If you don't get it you're out of luck.

  14. Why dont you put in the invitation, 'Travel Donations accepted and Appreciated".

Or put that on the money tree. Or do a fun game like people get to ask you questions and every one you get right every one in the rom has to put a dollar on the tree. Or how about quarters games where guests play games like pitching quarters in bottles or in tall jugs of water and such and at the end of the night all quarters are yours. There are lots of money games. And dont feel bad, surely the guests know its a party to raise moving/travel money. You can even put that on the invites, "A fund raising party".   Good Luck!
