We haven't decided on a menu yet but we were thinking of something for dessert like Dirt Cake (but another company near us used that) so I am looking for some fun, cute ideas for dessert or food at the Groundbreaking reception

  1. You may want to have "Dirt Dessert." I have come across many recipes for this and they have all been good. You can serve this in small individual terracotta pots or one or two large pots. Wash the pots before using and put a piece of parchment or wax paper on the bottom of each so the dessert does not leak through. You can even use small garden shovels as serving utensils, perfect for a ground breaking! Find recipes at the website listed below. Hopes this helps, and congrats on your groundbreaking.

  2. I once had a dessert in restaurant in Chicago called Dirt.  It was a bowl with vanilla pudding topped with finely crushed oreo cookies (no white cream) with a mint spring and leaf shoved in the middle- I really thought it was dirt. I've seen variations with gummy worms but it's not as presentable.  It was delicious.

  3. chewy rubber spunky gateaux

  4. mudd piiee of coursee :p

  5. If you type in mud at allrecipes.com you get several Mississippi mud recipes for cake, cookies, brownies, and candies.  You can serve different foods in bucks with trowels (clean of course).   You could have pigs-in-a-blanket for non dessert.
