Question Details: I am having a party for my 10 year old son and he has invited

kids from his class. Now I dont know how to plan for this since

I notated to rsvp by yesterday. And only 2 people have rsvpd.

And I know kids may show up even though their parents didnt let me know. He has 2 siblings and 4 cousins as well. So I want to make sure that I have enough games and food for all.

The party will be outside and the weather is going to be (so far)

75 as the high and partly cloudy. I dont have a pool so thats out. Any ideas would be appreciated.

thanks

  1. The best money I've spent so far on my twins sons birthday was renting a bouncy castle ( it was actually in the shape of a monster truck!). I paid $150 for 4 hours, and believe me, that was planty of time for a 7yr. old b'day party with 10-12 friends. I ordered pizzas, I made cakes, had a cooler full of Capri Suns, and cups out for water, and had some cheese puffs or something. Also, I did an apple bobbing contest, which lead to a great water pistol attack, and we also had an air guitar contest. I had two of those inflatable guitars and played some loud rock and roll and the boys decided to compete while the girls decided to judge. It was a lot of fun! Try not to organize too much, the kids can take care of themselves. But I'd reccommend the bouncy castle again and again and will be doing it again next month for their 8th!

(And only 4 out of 12 rsvp'd, but some people are just rude that way. Something you can count on, but don't let it spoil your kids party, keep smiling!) )

  2. Have a flag football game.  10 year old boys love that, just make sure you tell them a head of time no tackling.  A whiffle ball game is fun too.

  3. Well as far as food, if you have a grill just do hotdos and burgers that way you can control how much you make if you have a few less or more guests than you expect. As far as games you should ask your son what he and his friends will have fun doing.

Oh also most kids love baked mac and cheese do that as well and have a fruit salad or something.

Boys like gross stuff so fill some pie tins with chocolate pudding and hide gummy worms inside have them find them.

  4. Plan enough food for every one who was invited, that way if they show up you have enough and if not, every one can have seconds, and take some home, and your family can eat it. You can never have to much food. As for events, go to the dollar store get a bag of balloons for water fights, along with water guns. Turn on a sprinkler and let them have at it. You and the other parents can sit back and talk.

PS tell the parents in advance it will be a water party that way they bring the right cloths and towels.

  5. Do you know the parents of the children he invited? If so, you should perhaps just contact them to make sure they received the invitation and check if they are coming. This might help give you a more accurate number.

Also, a watergun fight might be fun for boys at that age and waterguns are quite cheap these days. Then again, getting wet might be out of the question totally since there probably wasn't anything in the invitations about bringing dry clothes. You should also think of something that your son likes to do and incorporate it into a group activity assuming it wouldn't be something he would be embarrassed about doing it in front of his friends. ;)

  6. My 11 year old younger brother had a Nerf gun fight for his birthday.  All of his friends came over and brought their Nerf guns and they were outside for hours.  If not all of the kids have Nerf guns, have a water gun fight.  You can buy cheap plastic ones (which work surprisingly well) for like a dollar or 2 for a pack at Wal-Mart or the dollar store.  Boys at 10 years old will find things to do either way, but something like what I said would be fun for them.

  7. maybe you should get a slip and slide! kids love that and will have fun for hours but you may just get something to do that you can all sit down and do but if hes 10 they would love a slip and slide!

  8. Maybe get some water guns, or water balloons to throw. You could have three legged races, balloon toss, egg race, they can play tag or hide and seek. Kids will find something to do outside:)

  9. just do a mystery part... it will keep the kids on the edge of their seats and they will have a lot of fun... make up something that has happened and plant clues around the place and have them search for them and it will be a blast for them

  10. No one RSVP's anymore so it is useless to even have that on there, sigh.

Hamburgers on the grill are always great because they freeze well after being cooked and you can use them for the future as burgers or any recipe involving ground beef thats browned (ie. spaghetti or hamburger helpers or tacos)

If you can afford it and have the room in your yard you can rent a bouncy house. They are terrific fun!

Silly string is really fun too, even for nineteen yr. olds ( been there)
