I am having a party in about 2 months, the party is in my home.?

I have a medium budget which will mean the guests can byo. Guests also include my husbands clients. I am doing the catering and my children are waitressing. My problem is I work full time and need some help with food ideas and general organising ideas

make lists! nothing helps out more then a well organized list that you can check off as you go. list household duties like what needs cleaning beforehand- food lists - decorations and other supplies. get as much done as you can in one trip to the stores, you can go buy party supplies well in advance and have that all ready so when it gets closer all you have to worry about is the food. get your house organized in advance also- set up the party areas a few days before in your spare time- set up buffet area and beverage areas, lounge area, and outdoor gathering areas- make sure to have enough seating for guests and places to sit and eat. get music ready- either plan out music or just leave it to the radio DJs to supply the tunes for the evening- maybe the kids can handle that for you? nothing worse than a quiet party with no music! need name tags for guests so they don't feel stupid forgetting a name? have some extra drinks on hand in case people forget to bring something also- maybe a nice batch of punch for everyone. heres a site with great recipe ideas- http://allrecipes.com/

Here is an article I wrote for another website with easy recipe ideas.  This is a simple meal than can be made to look elegant if it is served nicely, i.e., potatoes can be piped back into shells with cake decorator tips.  Also, if you can't grill the chicken, I have baked it in the oven with wonderful results.  Hope this helps!!!
