I am having a problem with Adobe Reader 8.1.1. I am using Windows XP. Originally the program ran fine, but lately when I click on a link on a website that uses Adobe Reader I get a message that says there was a problem with Adobe, nothing more specific than that. I have tried to reinstall, but get a message that says "Error 1714. The older version of Adobe Reader 8.1.2 cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group." When I try to unistall using Window Add/Remove I get a message that says "This patch package coud not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and theat you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package." When I try to use the repair function in the Adobe Reader program nothing happens. Can you help? And thanks so much for your time.
