I am having a problem with windows movie maker! help please!?

ok i am soo confused. I loaded my video from my camcorder on to windows movie maker and now for some reason I can hear the video playing on it but the vdeo screen is not popping up. So i can hear what i recorded but can't see it! =( How do i fix this problem. Every thing on the program is working perfectly well other then that! I have a video project due really soon and i need to figure this out! please help!

The mere fact that your video file was not outright rejected means that your video file format is supported by XP/wmmaker2.

Although the next hurdle -  hearing w/o seeing may possibly be a lack of appropriate video codec. Check video format.

Try to auto-download appropriate codecs:

- open wmmaker

- click menu/Tools/ options/ general/ ... and put a check on auto-download codecs... then apply

For Vista/wmmaker6, the supported video format can reach more than 90% by installing Media Player Codec Pack  3.1:

You used your USB cable and that only downloads sound and stills from your video camcorder, you need a firewire connection.

If you have a mini dv (cassette) camcorder….

Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) in order to download video, your PC probably did not come with a firewire port, so you will have to buy one and install it, since most computers (except possibly brand new) don't come with a firewire port, your camcorder did not come with a firewire cord so you have to purchase a cord too. Your camcorder did come with a USB cord and that is used for downloading stills from your camcorder. Make sure your camera is in playback mode.

It would help to know the make & model of your camcorder & the operating system of your PC. But since you neglected this vital information, your best bet is to consult your camcorder manual.
