  1. Have you tried the Employment Security Commission? Also check out the local universities. With temp agencies, it can help to call them back every few days to let them know your availability.

  2. Without much info you didn't say what your qualifications are, you may have to go back to college etc to get into a field you want.  Apparently you are over 60 so that may be an issue for them.

Kmart on University Blvd in Durham seems to favor older workers at times. and there is always Wal-mart with many locations in the R/D area.

But have you also thought about starting your own business? That may be your best option.

Work is always hard to find especially when you get older. I pray that G-d will help you get employment that is beneficial to you and your well-being not just a job.

Also check at your church or synagogue and see if anyone has any news of job openings.

Keep checking with your friends and family. Also look at yourself and take a hard look and see if "you would hire you" that is to say is there  anything that you are doing to discourage someone from hiring you?

Do you have a current resume do you have a life of positive employment? Employers look at this. R/D area usually is a good area to get a job but you may have like i said go back to a Tech school or college and get the extra stuff that an employer is looking for .

If you can also volunteer you may never know when a job opens up and they see you volunteering and they see how good of a worker you are.
