I am a young girl the age of 12. Ever since Monday (August 25, 2008) I have been having pains in my upper legs. Always in the thigh area. I started to feel them while I was in my Tae Kwon Do class. I know it wasn't because I was kicking or anything but that's when the pain arrived. I felt weak and it began to feel like I was sluggish. I was suposed to go yesterday but the pain had increased so I stayed at home. I've been in bed all day because I can't go downstairs. I can walk with barely any pain, but it's agony to walk downstairs. Please, if you have any information, I would be so grateful.

  1. I would have to advise you to SEE A DOCTOR. Agonizing is not good.

  2. Go to doc to make sure it's not a blood clot or something serious okay?

  3. Hmmm...my first thought was growing pains, but that's more of a constant throbbing in the lower leg. I'd see a doctor. Maybe you can get physio therapy to soothe it so you can get back to your Tae Kwon Do.

    Good Luck =]

  4. There are many reasons you may be feeling leg pain. How often do you go to Tae Kwon Do? When you say thigh area, exactly where? If it's on the back (hamstring) or front (quads) you may have strained your muscle, or overused it. It's very common among athletes. You may be just sore from that. This is my best bet.

If it's in your hip area (or inner thigh, groin), you could have over extended it while kicking, or tendinitis. It's basically inflammation of the tendons, or it refers to tiny tears in the tendons from overuse.  It's just a thought, other than a muscle strain.

I don't think it would be broken (trust me, you'd know for sure if you broke your femur).
