I am Amarican but my fiance is Hindu so we are having a Hindu wedding. I have never been to a Hindu wedding so I have no idea what to plan besides a place to get married in. I would like to know more info about what I should plan. Thank you so much.

We live in the USA

  1. Most Hindu weddings last a few days. They involve lots of food, made by familes. There are a lot of costume changes, gifts, and usually huge gifts to the couple. The few I have seen have had beautiful outfits, lots of jewerly, and food. If this is not a prearranged wedding, I am not sure that the family will go to all the trouble, or if they are ok with everything, they will handle it all. Just be prepared for lots of food, and her to be dressed beautifully. (if you are a she, expect a beautiful outfit from his family.)

  2. Congrats! I don't know if this will help...?

  3. I would suggest to talk to your fiancé's mom or sisters.  Traditions may vary from family to family.  These ceremonies are deeply traditional with emphasis on merging two families.

You may also want to incorporate some western traditions since you live in the US.  You could still wear your own style of dress, or incorporate other aspects of your own culture too.
