I was very thin(115lbs) before my pregnancy, and I read that I was only suppose to gain around 15-20 pounds. I have been keeping a balanced diet but have still gained 35 pounds! Is there something wrong?

  1. No you are fine everyone gains weight differently during pregnancy. I have worked out everyday and still gained more than I wanted to I have 4 weeks to go. Just try and be healthy.

  2. I gained 50 lbs when my first child was born, my wife was p*ssed!

Because your were thin, you should actually gain more than other people. The average American (over)weight has completely screwed up the numbers. And of course, since you should be getting regular checkups anyway, ask your doctor.

  3. My woman gained almost 50 on her first and she was about 110lbs. The doctor was fine. As long as you and the babe are healthy that's all that matters. Every woman is different. Her sister was about 110 too with her first she only gained about 15lbs.

  4. nahhh i gained 50 pounds

i almost lost it all besides 20 its kind of hard

    getting it off

  5. I'm not sure how tall you are, but if you are "very thin" I've read you are actually supposed to put on a little more weight than most woman. In What to Expect when You're Expecting- it says 15-20 pound weight gain is usually reccommended for overweight women, 25-35 for average women, and 28-40 pounds for underweight women.

    I weighed 118 pre-pregnancy and gained 32 pounds.

My sister weight 115 and gained 50 pounds.

We both now weight 119 (she had her baby 7 months ago, I had mine 4 months ago)

So we're all different! I'm sure you're fine if you're eating healthily and everything else at the doc's checks out ok.

  6. With my 3rd child I had gained an awful lot of weight. The only concern my doctors had was the size of my baby. My baby ended up being 11 lb and my weight disappeared instantly after the birth but the follow up doctors presumed I was diabetic during pregnancy due to the size of my baby. My son lost his weight within a couple of weeks. So if the doctors aren't concerned then neither should you be. Now is not the time to stress yourself.

  7. If you're eating a nice balanced diet (with room for cookies, lol!), and being as active as you feel up to, don't watch the scale.  Every woman and every pregnancy is different.  Those guidelines are so general!!

And if you WERE following them, they actually recommend higher gains for a very thin person.  So you're "right on target!"  :)

Just enjoy this time in your life mama.  Before you know it you'll have a teenager!

  8. i was the same weight before the baby . i gained a total of 50 lbs my doctor started to get concerened after 40lbs.. i lost 20 once the baby was born and have been struggling with the last 30.. but everyone is different.. if your doctor isn't concerened then you shouldn't either.. you're building a healthy baby!

  9. If your doc isn't worried about your weight gain, you are fine.

  10. Don't worry, with my first I gained 50 pounds. I was like you only 110 before pregnancy. I lost almost all of the weight (I was 125) The second pregnancy I gained about 20 pounds.
