Question:

I am having trouble installing a hot stem in my faucet any ideas?

i have put in the cold stem no problem but the hot stem doesnt seem to want to go in with the same ease. once i s***w it in i can control the water that comes out of the faucet, i am unable to turn it on or off.

  1. The hot and cold are basically the same except they work in reverse. Check and see if the bibb washer fell off or if the old washer or part of the old washer is stuck in the faucet or the seat. The seat(the metal part inside the faucet) may also be damaged and need to be replaced. You will need a special tool to replace this.


  2. Double check to see if you didn't accidentally switch the stems.  Or it is the wrong size.  Certain brands have left and right threads and you can turn on but not off the water because of it.  Some have different sizes and threads so they cannot be switched around.

    I am suggesting that the one in the hot is incorrect for some reason. threads, size or in the wrong side.
