Question:

I am having trouble with a wireless connection

I have a PC with a wireless router that I have not had any problems with until recently. It seems that every time I try to connect to the internet via my laptop, it cannot find the server. I do not know a whole lot about computers or IP address or the such but I was just recently told the first 2 digits of the IP address needs to be within 20-90. When I checked the IP address on the laptop, the first 3 numbers are 192 and I am thinking this is the problem but I have no idea how to fix it or where to even begin!! If someone could PLEASE help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Sorry if this message is confusing....

Thanks in advance

  1. that is not the problem, the 192 number is the beginning of the default gateway of your router.. the default is 192.168.1.1

this is used most commonly in accessing settings for your router.

"IF" you havent change anything at all then assume there arent any problems with your laptop...

the trouble with wireless is that it can be interfered by many things.. this include walls, microwave oven, wireless phones or anything wireless including another wireless connection from your neighbor. All of this could be the cause of your interference.

i wouldn't go to the reason why coz this would just complicate your problem...

first contact your service provider if they were having problems with their connection...

if that doesnt solve the problem, you can restart your modem and your router... on your modem remove the modem powerplug AND the battery, on your router press on the small restart button on your router with a paperclip. usually at the back

use wpa or wpa2 as an encryption if available

  2. You IP address is correct 192.198.1.x*x or something.

idk what exactly is wrong but i assure u ur ip is right.

  3. Hello

Occurrence: router hardware no problem, by connecting the computer no problem, but it can not be achieved normal connections, LAN and the other normal computer can connect to the Internet.

Failure: This is generally due to the MAC address bundled ISP can not connect, because some ISP in order to limit the number of users access, and in the authentication server on the MAC address of the binding, is not binding within the scope of users will not be able to normal To connect to the Internet.

Solution: first bundled MAC address of the router computers connected to the LAN port (but not connected Modem or router provided by the cable ISP), then use the router's MAC address cloning feature of the card MAC address copied to the WAN port broadband router, and then the computer is not binding on the following operations: Windows 2000/XP under the "start → run", type "cmd / k ipconfig / all", which "Physical Address "is the local MAC address.

  4. Plug the laptop directly into the router with an Ethernet Cable. It looks kinda like a phone jack line, just a bit wider. And in your internet browser, type the address "192.168.1.1" and that should connect you to the Routers Settings and Config and you can see if anything has been diabled.

Even a simple reset of the router can fix it

    Hope i helped!!
