  1. 1)  220,000 -  220,000 (17 +25+30)  =  $

         220,000  -  .72(220,000)  =  $

         220,000  -   158,400  =  61,600 dollars

    2)   18/30  =  60%

    3)  30% is  .30

         ,3 (45)  =  $13,50   saved

    4)   75/325  =  23.1 %

  2. Ok question one. The total budget is 100%. So to find out how much is left to spend on sports, subtract the other percentages from 100.

    So you have 100 - 17 - 25 - 30 = 28 or 28 percent.

percent just means "per hundred" the word centum means one hundred, so that's where the term came from. So to find out a decimal equivalent of 28 percent, just take 28/100 which equals 0.28. Then .28 times $220,000 equals $61,600.

Question 2.  to find this take what she got, 18, and divide it by the whole amount she could have got. If she had scored 30, that would have been 100%. But she got 18 divided by 30 equals 0.60 which is 60 percent.

Question 3. take $45.00 and multiply by 30% which is 0.30. This gives you $13.50 this is how much she saved

Question 4. to find the percentage, take the amount spent, divided by the whole amount. The whole amount would be what you consider 100%. so $75 divided by $325 equals 0.23 which is 23 percent.

  3. 1) .17 +  .25 + .30= .72

    220000 x .72 = 158400

    2) 18/30= .6 to a percent equals 60%

    3) 45 x .3 = $13.50 so 45 - 13.50 equals $31.50

    4)75/325= .23.....=  23%

  4. 1) add up all the percents to figure out how much was spent on every thing except sports programs so:

    25% + 17% + 30%= 72%

then you find 72% of $220,000 by doing:

    0.72 x $220,000= $158,400

then subtract it from the total budget and you will get how much money was spent on sports programs:

    $220,000- $158, 400= $61,600

    2) you just divide 18 into 30 and multiply by 100 to get a percent

    18/30 x 100= %60

    3) same here

    75/325 x 100= %23
