I am heading to Port Douglas, does anyone know of good snorkeling locations accessable from the mainland?

Just looking for somewhere I can walk/ride/drive to each day and go for a snorkel without being with a boat load of tourists (even though I will be one).

Hi, when your up there its wonderful basically all up and down the coast you can just snorkel of the beach and after about 5 or 10 minutes you will hit a reef not as good as the ones 200 odd kilomiters out to sea but still good enough altho be carefull when doing this next to river mouths as sharks and salt water crocodiles tend to group uo at these places also id suggesst doing a night walk with a guide your hotel were you are staying at will have one there and you go out at night and see all the nocturnel animals and reptiles every were great place
