  1. In addition to some of the ideas offered, you can also find out what the state bird, flower, etc are and post them around your party so people learn about Alaska.

  2. All of these ideas are crazy awesome. (Except for yellow04ducky"s...because there are no Penguins in Alaska..haha)

But....you can't forget to make a Baked Alaska for dessert!

    Simple Baked Alaska

    Ingredients

    2 pints ice cream (brick-style)

sponge cake or layer cake (1 inch-thick)

    5 egg whites

    1 teaspoon vanilla

    1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

    2/3 cup sugar

    Directions

1 Lay ice cream bricks side by side; measure length and width.

2 Trim cake 1 inch larger on all sides than ice cream measurements.

3 Place cake on a piece of foil.

4 Center ice cream on cake.

    5 Cover; freeze till firm.

6 At serving time, beat together egg whites, vanilla, and cream of tartar to soft peaks. Gradually add in sugar beating after each tablespoon is added.

7 Transfer cake with ice cream to a baking sheet.

8 Spread with egg white mixture, sealing to edges of cake and baking sheet all around.

    9 Swirl to make peaks.

10 Place oven rack in lowest position.

11 Bake in a 500F degrees oven about 3 minutes or till golden.

    12 Slice; serve immediately.

  3. icicle lights, snowflake decors. penguins, polar bears. fake snow, have ice sculptures.

  4. Moose, salmon, bears, eagles, and the Iditarod Dog Sled Race. Here is an interesting fact to wow your guests. Mt. McKinley is the highest mountain in the Northern Hemisphere. We are lucky enough to have it located in our little valley (size of West Virginia) which is called Matanuska-Susitna. Our valley has been designated a flood zone. So, if you were to build a home on the tippy top of Mt. McKinley....you would need flood insurance! Good luck to you.

  5. fish nets. fake snow (use pillow stuffing purchased from a craft store, not the papery messy kind), You can make a little igloo out of styrofoam maybe? crabs...

  6. Hanging snowflakes;  "snow" on the buffet table as a tablecloth;  igloos;  serve sugar cubes with coffee instead of granulated;  travel posters on the walls;  serving pieces with scrimshaw handles;  little plastic "moose" around ... Use some miniature sleds for trays

  7. Icebergs and Polar Bears.  Lumber jacks and jills!
