Bad things keep happening to me that make my balance go negative from delayed funds availability to payroll checks bouncing to merchants not batching out their debit card transactions in a timely manner and the pre-auths falling off my account, to automated services like vonage and tivo billing me when i have no money. I just found a great new job that REQUIRES a checking account to deposit money into, not a prepaid debit card, but an actual checking account. Getting a paper check is not an option and I dont want a savings account at a credit union because then i cant pay my tivo bill (they wont give me a debit card with a savings account). please no answers from people who are simply going to judge my financial management or my poor situation. I want bonafide people who know of banks that i can apply for online or in person that will either not use chexsystems, or be willing to give me a 2nd chance account

  1. I understand what you are going through and it does not make us bad people. I have been looking myself and found nothing so far. If you find something let me know and ignore those that critize and insult you. "When I read some of them I wanted to yell at them. They must not have made any mistakes in their LIFE........

  2. I can understand mistakes happen and bouncing some checks but why did you  not pay them?   That is why you are in Chex systems.  I seriously doubt any bank will open a account for you.  Credit unions offer checking accounts as well and I hear they are more fair when it comes to opening them.  A lot of them offer 2nd chance checking accounts.

  3. Hi There,

Credit card debt is a real serious problem. I would be very careful about going for a credit card consolidation loan as the temptation is to keep using your credit cards after you have the loan.

I would strongly recommend getting rid of all your credit cards completely and not to get any more. Then look at a credit card consolidation loan or pay them off a bit at a time.

If you visit http://www.howtopayoffyourcreditcards.co... you will find some really good information to help you out.

I've found credit card companies are usually reasonable and if you contact them and explain you are having difficulties you can get them to freeze interest and accept a fixed amount every month to repay the loan.

Hope that helps you out :)

  4. All I can say is to stay away from Bank of America. It is an absolutely terrible bank for more reasons than I have time to list. Go with a local bank that offers what you are looking for. Credit unions can be tricky, but regular old banks usually offer a debit card with just a checking account.

  5. Sorry about all the problems here.

I have no idea where to send you. A smaller bank or savings and loan might be an answer and a savings account with a debit card might be the answer for now.

I would also get rid of Tivo, Vontage, and anything that is a luxury right now. You can keep the cell, but take a look at the call plan and costs.

  6. A second chance?  Looks more like a sixth chance you are requesting.

A savings account WITHOUT a debit card would be your best bet.
