  1. Hi! Depending on what you're interested in and how much time you have, I'd suggest that you get yourself the Lonely Planet travel guide, its fantastic and it'll give you tips for all regions of Germany, stating places of interest, modes of transport, places to stay, places to eat and other specialties of the country. If you like scenic nature visit the black forest, I've been to this place Schiltach and it was awesome, Munich is a very 'proper' German city, its the cleanest and the most strictest about rules and regulations. Berlin on the other hand is multicultural and more relaxed. Dresden has a few old buildings that are beautiful and Köln too. Lübeck is a small town but very beautiful. I was most impressed with Hamburg, especially the graveyard which is now a huge park. If your headed north, go to the North Sea coast and experience the 'Wattenmeer'. Its really worth it. Learn a few main German phrases. Not many speak english fluently and most are shy but ever willing to help if you request them nicely. Have fun.

  2. Baveria ( Bayern ) It is the most beautiful part of Germany. The second most beautiful, the Black Forest, is right next to Baveria. As to exactly what cities to go to depends on what you are interested to see.

HEIDELBERG!!! You got to check it out! Very romantic, yet a lot of history, the castle right there next to the river (Neckar).

Drive down the Bergstrasse B3. It takes you from Darmstadt to Heidelberg, you will see a lot of castles on those hills. Its just beautiful!

Go off the beatin path. Go to small villages and towns some place where it is not 75% americans. but if you dont speak german or speak very little bring a dictionary of phrases. Berlin is a great place to go shopping for clothes and such but little shops are best for unique gifts. In Berlin i suggest you go to Ka De We I think that is how you spell it. It is a huge store kinda like Macys in the New York.
