I am in a Cricketing dilemma !! Please answer??

Question

After inhaling & drinking Cricket all my life, I still have a doubt or two for this complex & beautiful game of ours.

I am not able to understand which looks more ELEGANT & STYLISH - a left-hander or a right-hander.If you look at some of the shots like straight-drive, cover-drive of lefties & compare it with a right-hander, you will feel that the leftie looks more classy & elegant.

What about you?? Have you ever had a feeling like this?

Of the present right-handers, only Sachin has that extra-ordinary shot-making capabilties that makes him look so good on eyes.

i think they both are same because if you can not bat in right hand you have to use left hand that is not stylish .

I would say left handers have more of an advantage in playing cricket

Tough one... on one hand, you have Lara and on the other you have VVS Laxman. I personally feel that an offside shot looks more elegant when played by a left-hander but on-side shots look better when executed by right-handers. This is a very subjective question. :-)

Hey Jassu bhai.

Different people have different opinions.Some people like left handers and some like right handers.

The most elegant right handed batsman in my opinion is V.V.S.Laxman.

Sachin - Beautiful

Laxman - Stylish

Among left handers,Ganguly is the most elegant batsman in my opinion.

Well i named an Indian batsman in both categories but i didn't want to be biased.

I bet you are having false vision. For almost everyone - the

lefties shots look good than a rightie. The main reason being

that among men 14% of the world population are lefty compared to 85-86% righties. In that sort of a population, we

get to see majority Right handers and our vision gets used to

the Right handers 85% of the time. In case of left handers we

get to see only 14% and anything they do with some class always looks better than a right hander does.

Of course to top this, we have great right-handed players

like Sachin, who we all know that his shots and timings are

so great and part of it influences us to believe that only Sachin

can do it.

The real fact is, all right handers and left handers who play

well and have great timing of the ball equally well.

Don't you remember the saying:

"Lefties are always Right!!!!".

i agree with you. because the elegant shots you mentioned, the cover drive and straight drive, are played mostly using the top hand (ideally) which is a left handers right hand. (if that makes sense) and in many batsmans case (including my own) they are right hand dominant in most things such as writing and throwing but bat left handed. players like mike hussey matthew hayden and stephen fleming are in this situation. therefore when playing these strokes, the dominant hand (top hand) is their right hand which makes those particular shots more natural which makes them look more elegant.
