So I went in for jury duty and it was a questionaire we had to fill out. We don't start selection for a while however the judge said the trial could last over a month. My employer only pays up to 2 weeks of jury duty pay. Will that qualify me for financial hardship? I will not be able to pay all my bills if I don't get paid for 2 weeks of work. I should be able to get out of this right?

  1. Same way I get out of it: Tell the selection committee how much you HATE and mistrust cops. For me it works every time AND it's the truth.

  2. Usually in a trail that takes that long, they will ask you if it will be a hardship to you financially. Just tell the judge you won't be able to pay your bills and you should get out of serving on the jury..

  3. A lot of judges don't give a rip if it causes a financial hardship. They say it's your duty. If you form an opinion of guilt or innocence and state that during jury selection, you won't be chosen to serve.

  4. if you unsuitable as a juror you could be excused. example: if you have strong feelings either in favor or opposed to the defendants situation or the crowns case eg. anyone with tattoos is likely guilty or you really think penalties are too harsh, you would likely be let go.

  5. Got guts? Tell them you are mentally ill. It works.

  6. Last time I had jury duty, a person raised the same objection. The judge said "toooooooo bad."

Here's the problem! Everybody wants to sue everybody, but no one wants to do jury duty, and the judges are sick of hearing it.

  7. During the initial questioning you can always think of something to say to get one of the attorneys to disqualify you.

Once when I was working with no jury duty pay I wasn't allowed to be excused for financial hardship so I said something that made one of the attorneys disqualify me.
