Question:

I am in need of assistance in choosing a speargun.?

I have spearfished several times and live in RI. I mainly spear of of rocks and ledges occassionally around a wrecked ship. The visibility is never more than ten feet and i typically see tataug and striper around 20-30 pounds. Could any one recomned a gun please.

  1. I would go for something like an A.B. Biller Mahogany Spear Gun. It's a good gun for the price. I live in south Florida and own 2 along with a JBL carbine. The JBL I don't think will have enough power for the fish you are targeting. Anyway a gun with two  5/8 in bands should be plenty of power. As far as tips go I would go with something like a Tri-Cut, long barb, swivel tip. Packs quite a punch and very rarely will the fish shake free.
