I knew adoption was expensive but not like this. I need to raise around 15,000 by the end of the year. I thought about a car wash but with gas so high that may not work. I have applied for loans but they all say no.

  1. honestly i can not think of an adoption agency that will accept you...not being mean..

they look into everything, including your bank accounts...if you dont have the money plus enough to cover all the child expences and more...they want to know you can support this child no matter what comes up.

As a birth mother i wanted to know that since i could not give my child everything that my child needs that she was going to have everything she could ever want with her new family, of course that included love, attention and emotional support, but also financially..

maybe you just need to wait till you are in that position...good luck

  2. Looks like you didn't do your homework and now you are stuck in the middle of a pop quiz. Kinda sucks huh? Just think how badly it will suck when your little adoptling comes down with the "bad blood" or the "crazies" like his barf.. err birth family.

Wanting something isn't a good excuse to go blindly crashing into it. Read up about adoption, talk to adoptees, first parents and other adopters. You obviously have zero idea about what adoption really is and without being informed you will end up on the poopy end of this stick.

Get a dog to "mother/father" while you educate yourself about all areas of adoption. I don't mean the cost and wait times alone, I mean issues that adoptees face and what it is REALLY like to raise a child who isn't your own. Not only will you save yourself a ton of grief you will also save your little adoptling a world of pain and heartache.

  3. I'm somewhat confused.  Why do you need $10,000 by month's end?  Adoption can typically be expensive but it isn't typically payable all in one month.  Our fees were spread out.  You have the initial fees for fingerprints and background checks, then the home study, then fees to the agency or lawyer, then fees for the visits afterwards.  Typically this takes several months or possibly years.  If you're working with an agency, I would be surprised if they didn't give you a "timeline" prior to signing any documents so that you would be aware of their fee process.  So I'm not sure why you would need so much money so quickly.

As for ways to raise money, we were open with our family about what we were doing and how much it was going to cost.  One of our grandparents chose to give us a very nice sum of money to help us out.  Not every family is in a position to do that, but every bit helps.  You could also check with your employer to see if they offer any financial assistance for adoption - nowadays, many do.

But I think my biggest concern with your question is that you are already struggling to raise the money for the adoption process.  What will happen if you bring the child home and he/she needs special medical attention that isn't covered by insurance?  Children are expensive.  You never really realize "how" expensive until they come into your life - whether by birth or adoption.

    Good luck to you.

  4. I'm shaking my head in disbelief.

  5. Adopt through foster care.  It's free.

  6. If you really love the baby you will find a way. some one told that to my "mom" and thats how I ended up here!ask for donations. Tell your friends and family. work longer (unless you have the baby) if you will get payed more. Take a second job. If possible, maby even a third job. Find junk or stuff you dont need and sell it on eBay.  recycle.  It will pay you not a lot, but it will help.

  7. good and bad news.

if you have a couple of thousands to invest you can do it.

bad news: there is significant risk to making that much money in that fast of a time.

example: i trade foreign exchange and equities. on one particular day, i made 3,000. i panicked and closed the position. if i woulda stayed in, i would have made 30,000 in eight hours (risking 9000).

there is no way to make money that fast without siginificant risk. the odds are looking slim for you, sorry

  8. we are looking at ways to come up with the money. I found many ssites with adoption grants! do a search for them we will find a bunch and those you apply for and do not have to pay back. with grants they want to see you do some kind of fundraising. it can be garage sales,  tee shirts some of the sites have ideas for you

  9. I work for Avon. I'm not sure of all thier rules, but they love for thier represenatives to have fun raisers and will accept just about any reason. They make alot of money and you can make really good to! Sign up to be a represenative and go thru the upline and see what you can do. I know alot of people that sell just so they can do fundraisers. In about a month of work (taking orders, bagging them, and accepting payment...EASY!) I've seen women make near 6,000 on one fundraiser.  You can even do it for a school in the community.  This way you have acess to those cute little sellers to help you out and you still get that good chunk of change.  I've read in another district, this woman and her hubby made 12500 in one fundraiser.  They picked a large elementary school, they got a huge chunk of change, and the school got really cool playground equipment and computers!

  10. Listen carefully:

    YOU CAN'T AFFORD IT.

  11. I suggest that you look around the house at any thing you do not need, that you have not used for a year, or can do with out, have a garage sale or as they call them yard sale. Next you look at what you are good at, sewing( I earned thousands of dollars this way working from home while raising family)cooking, ironing, tutoring,

singing, what every gift you have, set to use it commercially, hire yourself out for long term baby sitting, lots of parents like to have a week off,or even week ends away, can you paint, draw, any thing and every thing you are good at, can be turned in to a pay check, some people would tell you, that you have to have money to make money, that is not true, we all have some skills or even gifts, but, we never think we can use them to turn them in to money, hope this helps good luck

  12. Are you active in a Church or Temple?  Perhaps you could turn to them and they could help sponsor fundraisers . . . large scale tag sales / bake sales etc . . . it is amazing how much a group can raise when they put their minds to it.

    Good luck!

  13. You might want to enlist your family and friends and see if they will make a donation.  After all this will be a new member of their life as well as in your life.

If that is not possible, sell your car, or other big items , in order to come up with the money.  Make a decision as to what is more important and sell the stuff.  Try asking at work also, people might be willing to help.

Have a baby shower type party and ask people to make donations to the cause.

    Best of Luck
