I bled for almost 3 and a half weeks. During which time, I went to my regular doctor who gave me birth control pills that only stopped it for a couple of days. Then I went to the hospital because I started having pain in the left side and bleeding again. That doctor gave me Provera, which stopped the bleeding and not the pain. Now I still hurt and see a pinkish discharge at times. I am on the Mirena IUD also. They did a pregnancy test that showed up negative. Neither did an ultrasound. My GYN cannot get me in til October. It has been a month of suffering. What should I do?

  1. v****a Discharge is abnormal if the amount is  dense, color & odor is noticeable.

→ White color, may be large amount, thin or thick, cottage cheese or frothy.

→ Yellow color, amount may be small or large, strong odor, thin or thick (ulcers or inflammation).

→ Red color, pale red, large or small amount, thick or thin, pain/inflamed in the vaginal area, has odor.

→ White & Red, thick sticky, with odor (cervical problems, cancer, cysts etc).

→ Pus, large amount, strong odor, may contain blood.

→ Mixed pus/white/red/yellow or colors appear separately.

Pinkish vaginal discharge may be a sign of an infection including urethritis, and cryotherapy is not an effective treamemt. If the secretion of your v****a changes its color, consistence or amount, it may be a sign of any infection.

Find another doctor or go to a local clinic or ER.

    Good luck.

  2. Bleeding/spotting is normal this early. For some women, bleeding/spotting can happen up to 3-6 months! (reading from a Mirena booklet). It says in some cases the bleeding is heavier than usual at first, but quickly lightens. But if its excessive, and continual, see a doctor asap. Especially if you're changing like 2 pads an hour.

It can also be an ovary cyst. About 10% (1 out of 10) of women using Mirena will have a cyst on the ovary. These cysts usually disappear on their own in a month or two. However, cysts can cause pain. And other times will need to be surgically removed.

BTW, all the way til October?? No way... Check into a clinic like Planned Parenthood. It would probably be real good to get a 2nd opinion. They'll get you in quickly

  3. I hate to have to ask but did they do a std test? cause I believe that is a sign of clamedia or gonarea! sorry i know i spelled that wrong! if not you should have them test you!

  4. October is too long to wait! Find another doctor or go to a local clinic. You can got to www.plannedparenthood.org and put in your zip code if you're in the US. Good luck.
