Question:

I am in serious need of a job...

I am currently a stay at home mom of a three month old. I really need to get a job, but I am finding this difficult because I am breastfeeding. My daughter has a hard time with taking a bottle, and I am not sure if there are any jobs out there that will work with me needing to go home and feed her, plus it needs to be a evening or night job. I would prefer something that I can do from home or that allows me to have her with me. My husband says it is impossible, but I know there has got to be something out there. If it is at home I have tried the survey things and I just get tons and tons or junk, or it requires money to start and that is a hard one to convience my husband of... Some tips would be greatly appreciated. =)

  1. I personally sell things online. I work in fish and fish supplies, but there are so many other things you can work with. The problem is that you need to have a start-up budget. I started with one simple thing that I sold, and slowly as I made profits, I built onto that and added more to my inventory. Find something that you're interested in, then start saving some money (doesn't need to be much at first, maybe $50 or $100), and find out what you can buy and sell that is in that hobby. You could make quilts or any type of craft and have yardsales to sell them (give out business cards with every purchase), make a free website (freewebs.com ; angelfire.com) to help advertise what you make (or just to give more information to current customers). You can even advertise your items in craft forums, local newspapers, local online classifieds and on bulletins in libraries, gas stations, etc. Don't expect to make a grand on your first day. It honestly took me a little while, but then I hit a huge break on a few things and started making good money. Also, another thing... We have a local antique shop here (we live in victorian Bellefonte, so everything is all about antiques) and you can rent a small booth in this store for I believe $50 a month (plus you work there for one day out of the month). My mother in law buys all kinds of antiques on ebay and sells it there and makes several hundred a month (profit) for one day of work per month.

If you could give us any ideas on any of your hobbies or talents, that could help...

  7. I know this is going to sound harsh, but you need to get out into the workforce to even make money. Home businesses rarely work out unless you have the cash to invest. I know how hard it is to find a bottle that suits a baby, my son had alot of trouble when I had to go back to work. Try different bottles, I used Soothies (I think they are a First year brand), and dont be afraid to try different types of bottles. Ultimately, if you want to work your going to have to put the time into it. I went back to working 12 hour days when my son was 6 weeks old, and I am a single mommy. It's hard, but you have a loving husband to at least help support you.

  8. You could get a part time job when your husband is home to watch the baby. It could be a 3 or 4 hour shift. As your daughter gets used to it, you could extended your hours.

She will learn to take the bottle if she gets hungry enough. That may sound mean, but it just takes some work to get her to switch.
