  1. Try going out for a walk

  2. I don't know, I'm Spanish but I've never been at Salamanca. They say it's a very nice city, and a great university (and many foreign students, as well).

Cheer up!! With that attitude you'd be bored even onboard the space shuttle!!.

-Try to meet people (are you a student?) If so; MEET THEM.

-Try some local activities, events, etc... ; most newspapers on Sunday also come with magazines that offer information on things to do and see, from painting exhibitions, free yoga lessons somewhere,  to the day of the running cheese party, and stuff like that, etc. Try El Mundo or El Pais. Or Guia del Ocio as the guy above said (that's a magazine) Check the mags, anyway!!!

-Go biking. There must be great places to bike around there. SURE!!!

-Get yourself a PStation or a computer (if you already don't have one) and enjoy it. Or go to Internet cafes, meet people (you know, the "hello" thing), play online...

-Buy a map, rent a car or of you don't have license, travel by bus/rail to other cities, like Ciudad Rodrigo, Segovia (the aqueduct, and the food is a must see), Madrid (isn't that far away!!), Avila(you've got to see the city wall), or even Lisboa, Portugal.

-And not to mention all the cultural staff; museums, Archivo de Salamanca, etc..

-Go to bars on night and wait a few seconds (no need for more) for s.o to aproach you... Oh, well, forget this one, you don't like bars. :-P

And don't tell me there ain't parks there!! Of course there are!! Damnit, every spanish city's got parks!! Find them!!!!!! Or I'll find them for you!!!

And who said you can't run on the streets in Spain??? As far as I know, ZP hasn't banned running yet... so, go running to the nearest park and keep running there, and once finished, return home. Running, of course. Ok, I'll let ya have a drink or two in a bar. And some tapas.

    Oh, whatever. Enjoy yourself!!!

  3. I live in Catalunya and i am not aware of a law forbidding running we live in the country or (cambio) and ladys run miles no one bothers them unlike the Uk i agree with everyone get out and meet the people the spanish are very friendly

  4. do run in the streets. forget the people, think of all the c**p spain has pulled on you, you know you deserve the right to run free. you can try going out to  a bar alone, if only just to read, get some tapas and a beer. you know how much fun reading iswhen you´re drunk.

  5. There are plenty of things to do.  I'm not a big drinker, and I still went out for tapas a lot at night and hung out with people.  Find another intercambio - they can be fun and will help you improve your spoken Spanish.  Walk around Salamanca and visit the sites.  Plan weekend trips with other people in your group (if you get along with them) or by yourself.  If you just got to Spain, you may still be experiencing culture shock.  It's common.  You'll soon realize that you have a great opportunity to study in another country and you won't want to waste another moment!

  6. 1) Do an "intercambio" (language exchange) with a local person.

    2) Go to a travel agency and sign up for a tour of Salamanca and surrounding area.

    3) Get a good map and find a park to run in

    4) Find an indoor swimming pool (check out Guia del Ocio from a news-stand).

    5) Years ago I went to a place called "Club Ecuestre de Salamanca" that had horse-back riding a few miles outside Salamanca.  Pretty cool place if you're into that, but best if you speak Spanish.

    6) Get on a bus / train (or rent a car if possible) and check out some other Spanish cities / towns.  I would recommend Ciudad Rodrigo and Avila.

    7) Go out at night and talk to people and do some dancing.  You don't have to get drunk.

Enjoy yourself, and take in the beautiful city.  I wish I could trade places with you!
