  1. Honestly, I think its a personal preference. But If sprinting in a race I'd rather do a curve.

  2. It really depends on your running style. Turns generally hurt the knees if you are a bouncy runner. if you run very smooth like you wont have a problem w/them. straight aways are easier to me because i dont have to worry about the border of my lane changing on me

  3. well i used to think straights were wayy easier but i just ran in a meet the other day for a 4x100 and i had a curve. i was really nervous cuz i thought they were hard but after i started running it was like the fastest i think ive ran! idk the momentum building up as you run directly on that inside line of the curve just got me goin! we were in 6th and i must have passed 5 people just on the curve and we ended up winning! i was so happy! so it depends, but now i kinda think a curve is easier to build up speed=] hope i helped <3xD

  4. Yes.  If the question is "Can you run faster on the straights than the turns with the same effort?".

With straights your legs only push forward.  On turns they push forward and inwared so that you follow the track curvature.

In sprint races such as the 200m and 400m, the top runners are always in lanes 3 or 4.  Running in lane 1 or 2 is a big disadvantage due to the sharper turn, i.e. more energy goes into turning and less into forward motion.

  5. no curves are alot easier to run than straight aways u are running upwards the curve u lean more into the  turn and it jus makes u feel like u are fast on the curve and when u run it try to hug the curve and stay close to the line and u will run wit great ease

  6. This depends on if you are running long distance or sprints.  For long distances, I love the straightaways, that is when you pass and you can get into your rhythm. The curves are worse because you have to exert energy into turning and your feet do not plant as well as the straightaways.  I guess it is just me, but I'm a straightaway kind of guy.
