I am stationed at Ft. Bragg,NC right now and really want to go to Ft. Lewis, WA. I will not be coming up on orders to PCS any time soon because I will be in Iraq until Feb. 09' and am trying to see if there is a way I can do this with out going through my chain of command. Any suggestions?

  1. Heck yes you can, as long as you're not stop lossed or fenced. Then again, there is always a way (ie. hardship)...

However, I would start with your branch manager. Talk to him or her and ask to be put on orders for Fort Lewis. It may help if you volunteered to go to a "unit of action" at Lewis.

From what I can tell, you're in Iraq NOW. Yes? And will be "home" in Feb? Thats fantastic and I know you're counting the days. There should be no issue with you being put on orders and leaving Bragg a month or two after you get back.
