  1. Salary for each rank in the military is public information. Everyone knows that you don't make "good money" in the military.

Nobody joins the military for the money. You join to serve, or for the benefits. Not the paycheck.  If money was important to you, why did you sign on?

I don't see how you can hold a second job while in the military, so you should resign at your next opportunity (when your enlistment is up) and have a go at the private sector. If you have any skills at all, you can make lots more money in the private sector than you can in the military.

If I were in your situation, I certainly wouldn't be eating ramen noodles. That's not good for you. Heart attack in a bowl. I would be eating on base. It might not taste good, but it tastes better than ramen noodles. And it's even cheaper than ramen noodles. Free!

  2. Bull. You don't pay to eat in the mess hall. The ramen noodles are you choice. You have free medical. Free Dental, Free room and  board. Free insurance etc etc, I call BS that you are broke. Unless you are talking a family outside of their which you didn't mention.

Also noticed going through your answers that you have spammed every question with the same phrase over and over again even when it has nothing to do with the question. Those answers have been reported.

Nice try champ. Strange how that info just pops up yet it was relevant the whole time. And how does your same answer over and over when someone isn't asking anything about it not merrit it being a personal rant/spam?

25k a year Thats over 2k per month. What are you spending it on? Seems like only half the story is here. For one person working and that many benifits for free (health, housing, dental, etc etc also tax free depending on deployemnt) you need to do some growing up and stop spamming the the boards with your personal grudges and rants  you cant manage your finances and get an ipod.

edit after your 'latest' info. Sounds like you are backpeddling big time in what you originally posted and the way you presented it. They make allowences for mess hall depending on your branch you said army 250 for 3 squares for 30 days per month. Oh no. If you want more in the Army with that  attitude its not going to happen there. A promotion will get you that. Your attitude registers 0 chance of that. Nothing wrong with wanting more but as another answerer said you joined for all the wrong reasons if that was why. You claim its not yet somehow are angry your not making more. You did know ahead of time what you would be making why the surprise. Still leaks of suspecion but I will give you benifit of the doubt. Reguardless sounds like you need simple money mangagemnet books. Talk to the base finance officer. Save your money. 2k -250 with your math is still plenty to save for stuff.

  3. What transferable skills have you got? This might indicate a possible better career - how about getting promoted where you are?

If all you want is some extra cash for 'stuff' like ipods etc, then there's a good chance you will never have much money. 'Stuff' only makes you happy for a short period of time - like Robert Kiyosaki says - make money first and when you have plenty, then get the things you want - as he says, most of us have it back to front.
