  1. Being Indian and born and raised abroad, I have to say I find that when people from India try and emulate a foreign accent, particularly and American one, they sound worse than sticking with the original way they speak.  It is difficult to change pronunciation of words, and you will find that you can master some but others will come out awful when you speak.

I suggest sticking with your original accent, when you speak English.  If you really want to "learn" an accent, stick with British, as Indian English pronunciation is closer to that form and hence sounds far better and will be easier to learn.  Take for example most of the politicians in India or Movie stars.  When they emulate an accent, its typically British and it works fairly well.

To answer your second question, there is no superiority over accent in my opinion when it comes to American or British.

  2. Depends on where you may spend most of your time...

Are you closer to america or brittan?

  3. I think Indian accents are the best, but of the 2 I would go british, they sound smarter

  4. according to the indian sitting next to me every indian has a bristish accent (you know, the one speaking with the american accent). so i would go for that.  but i really don't think it matters. if you speak english, and people understand what you're saying, that should be good enough.  i would learn american terminology, because american and bristish terminology is quite different.
