Question:

I am installing a 2400 watt sub and do not know what gauge wire to use with it and the amp?

i am running two pioneer subs, each 1200 watt, i also have a 2400 watt amp, i am trying to find out which gauge to use, and i also need to figure out how to wire, bc i dont not know how to wire through the firewall.

  1. i would go with about 4 guage for the power and ground wire. for the subs use about 12 gauge. to wire through the firewall try lookin in the engine compartment for any rubber plugs or see if ther is any room in the hole the prexisting wire is ran through. also make sure when you run it through ther that you dont actually strip the wire.


  2. 4 gauge is too small for a 2400w amp. seriously go with a 0awg wire. and with that big of an amp you might also need to do some work with your charging system. invest in an optima yellowtop,  and maybe a high output alternator. you might also want to add a capacitor. stinger has a good 15 or 30 farad hybrid capacitor that does really well to maintain constant voltage over 12v.
