I am installing a new C.B radio in my truck and when i connect the power cord i keep blowing the fuse in the?

  1. red is positive!!!= battery on most vehicles, otherwise something is wrong with it-try turning it off first, do NOT short the output to chassis - ever!  expect major internal electronics failures if power has been reversed. fuses are too slow to protect transistors from being damaged.


  2. All CB radios have a diode on the circuit board that protects the radio from major damage if the radio is hooked up backwards by accident. But once it is hooked up backwards, the diode shorts and the radio will continue to blow fuses until the diode is replaced. It's an easy and common fix for anyone who works on CBs.

  3. have you checked the power line for cracks or bare spots if the wire has a bare spot on it and it comes in contact with metal its grounding out and thats why it blows the fuse

  4. sounds like the cb could have a short in it somewhere. you may have to return it for another one
