What all do I have to buy in order for it to fit the big space? Also, should I have a professional do it or am I fine doing it myself? I put them in other cars no problem, but i have heard that VW electrical system is touchy.

  1. The Jetta has a double din space so you need to get a pocket to take up the other half of the space.  That is all you need to get it to fit.  You will also need a wiring kit and an antenna adapter.

The part numbers from Metra are:

    Mounting kit/poket: 88-00-9008

    Antenna Adapter: 40-EU55

    Wiring kit: XSVI-9003

There is another wiring kit that is cheaper but this one allows you to keep the R.A.P. feature.  This means that you are able to keep the feature that turns off your radio when you open your door.  The cheaper wiring kit will have you find your own ignition wire.

It really isn't that difficult to install.  The old radio can be difficult to pull out and the new radio can be difficult to fit with all the wires.  The actual wiring is just like any other radio with the XSVI-9003.

    Good Luck!!!

  2. You should not have any problems fitting your CD to a Jetta if you have fitted units before.

Make sure before you start you have bought from the motor shop the correct adapters. You will need one wiring adapter for the wires and one facier adapter for the hole size.
