  1. The first question one would ask you is: Do you have any college experience or a degree already? If so, in what field?

If you have a degree already, depending on your course of study, you might need to do very little before applying to a PT program (which results in either a master's or doctorate degree).  Every school has a list of prerequisite courses that you must take prior to getting into the graduate phase.  It varies from school to school, but usually involves a year each of general chemistry, physics, and biology. You will also need to take certain psychology and math courses as well as anatomy and physiology.  Once you've completed these requirements, you will probably need to complete some volunteer hours in a clinic and sit for the GRE.  Then you apply for admission, which is typically competitive and you may or may not need an interview.  Once in the program, it is typically another 3 years.

If you've had no college experience, the program takes about 6-7 years. If you already have a degree, it might take you a couple semsters to a couple years take your prequisites.

I'd also suggest going to the APTA website at: http://www.apta.org where they have good information for prospective students.
