  1. This is just my personal view, but the further south, the better.  Both Auckland and Wellington are horrendously expensive, especially Auckland.  I lived in Christchurch for several years and I agree that it's a better place to live than either of these.  These days, with the Net and the information revolution, it's less and less attractive to live in a city.  If your work skills allow, why not consider the country?

  2. Auckland=San Francisco

    Wellington=Reno w/coast

  3. I migrated to NZ 7 years ago.  I went for Auckland because I didn't have a job and figured that because it is the biggest city it will have the most job vacancies.  If you have a job already then your decision is made.

  4. Move to Australia instead, NZ sucks.

  5. WELLINGTON!  It's a beautiful village-city, filled with cafes, bars, art galleries and beautiful fun people!  It's much friendlier than Auckland, and is surrounded by these incredible mountains and surf.

    Because it's the Capital, most government ministries and NGOs are based there.  It's also much easier to pop over to the South Island from there.

    Good Luck!

  6. Auckland

  7. if you are migrating Auckland would be better ..... it is much easier to fit in socially .

  8. Deffinatley Welly!

  9. Hmmmm wellington weather is not great at times, Auckland is warmer, but wetter.  Auckland is bigger and has more facilities and gets all the "good stuff". Wellington I guess is more central to the country and has some good views, although Auckland would rival it in that repect. Cost of living would be more in Auckland, but house prices are atill pretty high in Wellington too.

    I personally prefer Christchurch over either city...but I am a South Island girl!
