I am interested in buying the BB Pearl through verizon, a lot of people I know have a blackberry (not necessarily with verizon) and they love it. The only problem is $30 dollars is a lot of money each month for a service fee, when I would rarely be going on the web. I know thats mainly the whole point of a blackberry, but I don't care I still want it without the internet, haha. Is there a way I can get it without getting the service fee? I heard I can buy the phone online and then activate it through verizon, but would that work? And could they transfer all my contacts? Please help. Thanks so much : )

  1. their will be no point of getting it without data plan. i dont think theyl let u

  2. DO NOT GET THE BLACK BERRY PEARL! I HAD MINE FOR A DAY, AND TOOK IT BACK. THE CHARGES FOR IT ARE REDICULOUS, YOU'D BE BETTER OFF WITH A VOYAGER.

  3. Verizon and RIM have an agreement that requires users of BlackBerry devices on the Verizon network to add the BlackBerry data plan. Actually, this is supposed to be enforced by all carriers, it is just some don't require it. However, Verizon does.

So you can purchase the phone elsewhere but the data plan will be added upon activation. If you don't want to pay for the plan you will either need to switch carriers or use a different phone.
