  1. Subway offer a great brand & Franchise opertunaty.

    www.subway.com

Or The website of the British Franchise Association might be able to help with that or others

  2. Muffin Break - at present there are only about 14 in the UK, with one or two in London (definitely Lewisham, think there might be one somewhere else), so I think this would be an excellent choice as the market is not currently saturated with their stores.  They're an Australian company and they are (apparently) really good in terms of the support they provide not just in setting up, but also afterwards when you are up and running.  Plus they have excellent coffee.  Look for their website for further information.

There's also BBs - they're Australian originally too.  Can't really offer much information on them except that the ones that I know of in London (Wood Green and Brent Cross) are always filthy and disgusting - but then again when it's a franchise, you can only blame the operators and not take it to be representative of the company as a whole.

I would advise you to steer clear of Subway.  First of all, they are already everywhere - can you name one shopping area in London that doesn't have one?  Secondly, I have heard that they rip you off a little bit - what they do is they charge a really low amount for you to buy into it in the first place, so that you are encouraged to buy into them rather than another company.  But then they take a much higher payment off you later on.

I've researched both Muffin Break and Subway pretty thoroughly (a couple of years back though) and decided in the end that having a franchise wasn't something I wanted to get into, but I was impressed with everything that I heard and read about Muffin Break and would have gone with them if I had decided to go ahead with it.

BTW - those people that suggested Paul - yes they do have very nice sandwiches but I do not believe that it is possible to buy into a franchise.
