Ask your library if they have a book on heraldry.

If you are just starting out go to "Roger the Herald's Notes on Blazonry for Beginners" to read the rules for emblazoning a coat of arms. do google searches and get the free books until you have an idea what you want. Then you can find the best values at libraries or on ebay. Good luck, I think it's a cool idea.
