  1. Ottawa is safe, Very dully so! But very hard to get into Canada :

  2. You are asking too many questions in one - I would spread some of these out.

There are several great cities in Canada - some are VERY multicultural - though more from Asia than Latin America.  Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver would be the top cities (Montreal - but speaking French would really help there).

Of these Calgary and Vancouver will have a slightly larger Latino population - social work salaries in CAN are comparable to the US - cost of living is also comparable - though CAN is improving while ours is getting worse.

  3. Whatever you do, just remember to keep your stick on the ice.

  4. Why are you interested in Canada?  You will have to become a Canadian citizen.  I'm sure there are other places you can move other than another country.  Canada is just as expensive as here.  Prices are higher and taxes are more.  Definitely do your research.  Go on Craigslist and check out and see how much rent is and see what jobs they have there too ahead of time.

    Good luck!
