  1. If you want to do mma you are going to have to do a lot more than boxing. Like Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, judo, kickboxing, muay-thai these our some mixed martial arts.  The ground game and other standup techniqes our just as important as boxing.  I like boixng a lot more then mma but i kno that any boxer who goes into the octagon would get killed.  Floyd Maywether would get killed against someone like bj penn or gsp.  So if you want to become a star in the mma i would take some Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu along with the boxing and try to work on some other mixed marial arts. If you have any other questions about mma ask. But any way here are some links to help you dodge punches make sure you click on the related videos to see more techniques if you want any mma videos like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu then just ask

  2. First off, training for a specific discipline first is a sensible step. Personally, I like that u chose boxing first. It will give you very good foundation with striking with our hands. Timing, endurance and footwork will help. Just tuck your chin and hands up for basic defense. If your aim is MMA, don't bother learning very specific boxing techniques. It is only for boxing matches. In most cases, it won't work on MMA matches. In boxing, you will not learn defense against kicks (especially low kicks). No defense against takedowns. Boxing stance is not as stable as kickboxing or MMA stance. You are taught to be a little sideways to your opponent... so, target is smaller. In kickboxing or MMA, you have to be somewhat square to ur opponent. More stable stance, center of gravity is better. You can kick with less time and effort, you can shoot with ease. You can defend better against takedowns. If your learning boxing for a future MMA career, just learn the pros of boxing in terms of MMA. Learn handspeed, pinpoint accuracy, fakes, and head movement. Don't bother with: defense by blocking (MMA have smaller gloves compared to boxing); power-punching (accuracy is better, again MMA has smaller gloves); Clinching techniques (learn this in muay thai, clinch techniques in boxing is the worst). In boxing sparring matches, if you can outbox your opponents, always hitting him first with fast jabs and straights. Then it will be a good start. Imagine doing that with MMA gloves. That will hurt even with just decent power. Learn power striking in muay thai. not in Boxing. Just try to be slick in boxing. Once you achieved this, Learn kickboxing (MuayThai), to upgrade your stand-up weaponry. After striking skills, concentrate on wrestling. For me, a good wrestler with the right gameplan, will dominate MMA matches everytime. Backbone of grappling is wrestling.  Once you have superb wrestling skills, go for Jujitsu and submission disciplines. Jujitsu will always give opportunities in a fight. Even if your down and almost out, you could always submit your opponent.
