I am just wondering how they work and how long you do it for. Also, I know that they give you room and board, but do they pay for your meals as well? What are the jobs like? If anyone has information about these, let me know. Thanks.

  1. You need to contact the cruise lines directly. On their web sites you will find a link to jobs, employment, human resources or some such link that will give you information about their positions. Some sites even have current vacancies they are recruiting for. Several cruise lines have new ships coming out soon so opportunities will be there. Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Disney and some others will have new ships launched in the next couple years.

    Here are some links:

    The luxury cruise lines are:

I know that on Royal Caribbean's site if you go to the bottom of their home page and click on OUR COMPANY it will take you to a page where career opportunities are listed by category: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/ourCompany...

Then there are more links that will let you see and download job requirements. Celebrity Cruise line is a RC affiliate and so you should be able to get similar information from them the same way. here's a link to their jobs page: http://www.celebritycruises.com/aboutcel...

    Here's Norwegian Cruise line: http://www.ncl.com/nclweb/cruiser/cmsPag...

Another thing to do is to contact the concession that run the shops on the ships like the souvenir, gift and clothing shops. Below are links for you.

  2. I spoke to our waiter on our last cruise. He said that his supervisor was not allowed to sign his timecard if it was over 77 hours per week! I asked what he really worked and he said more than that. They never get a day off. Sometimes they get a morning or afternoon off ( they take turns) if the ship is in port, but never a whole day for the entire length of their contract.

  3. From what I heard you work for long periods of time and get some free time while on a cruise.  You don't get many vacations though.

  4. Others have mentioned having no time off but the contracts are for six months then two months off, what other job has two months off every six months. hard work never k*lled anyone. Go for it, some afternoons staff are able to go ashore and on beaches etc. Plus there's nothing much to spend your wages on so your money accumulates. Go for a cruise that pays your flights to ships etc, some don't but pay greater salaries.
