  1. Before I say anything, I would not be using Norton Anti-virus at all. It is pretty widely accepted in the IT community as being slow and chunky.

Anyway, I use Avast Anti-Virus on my PC and it works fantastically. Its free and doesn't slow down the PC at all.

For your firewall, I recommend ZoneAlarm. It is also free and its one of the most popular free firewalls on the market.

Lastly, you will also need some anti-spyware protection as well. I highly recommend aSquared anti-spyware which is yet again free and is very good at catching the bad guys. I have included a link to what spyware is below, just in case you need to know. Hope this helps :-)

  2. None of them work i have had so many viruses and have had 3 anti viruses and they even scanned a file named win32.trojan i reccomend using a program called norton ghost it works a lot better then windows restore, Once you get one your **** out of luck to be honest very rarly they will go away, but if you were to get one i would say Zone Alarm.

  3. It depends on the network that you are on, with optus they gave a free year with F Force, its a complete package free to its customers for 15 months, it has firewall, antivirus, updates, parental control, anti spyware, internet shield and spam control all in one, after that I think its $189 a year, but believe me its worth it, get firewall alerts often, you just block and log when you set it up, its very easy to understand and operate and will do a full computer scan once per week on request, and show any reports whenever they happen to let you know whats going on, its very good and not to mention reasonably priced for all it does, hope this helps, goodluck! :)

  4. i just renewed my subscription for norton 360 for $60us.

it covers three pc's so if you got two mates thats only $20

  5. Hi there... first of all i am not confident using NORTON because for some reason base on my experience and my group of friends... Try to install spybot search&destroy...  it is a free ware and its quite a good one concerning those viruses, spyware, adware, malware etc might attack your beloved PC hehehe... Hope it will be helpful to your inquiry... goodluck....

  6. The best free anti virus is Avira AntiVir Personal Edition :)

  7. Zone Alarm firewall - turn off the Microsoft one.

    Antivirus: Comodo, AVG, Avira, Avast

Malware/Spyware: Spybot, AVG, Ad Aware, EMCO Malware Destroyer.

You must update frequently. I use Comodo Antvirus and it updates daily. I keep Spybot active and keep the other spyware products installed and also update one then run it each weekend in rotation.

Also install the GRC socket locks - www.grc.com

Finally - don't use Internet Explorer or Outlook/Outlook Express - go for Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird or consider Opera for browsing and email.

  8. I found NON of the boughten ones work as well as these:

I've been using them all for over two years now.

They are all compatible with each other and Windows XP and Vista as well as older versions of Windows and Linux.

You will have a trouble free, clean, green, mean machine.
