Question:

I am lifting a 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

I am lifting my 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I am mainly lifting my Jeep for looks because this is my everyday vehicle. I would like to keep the ride as smooth as possible, but I feel a Jeep just looks a lot better with a lift and bigger tires. I am wanting to put 33's on the Jeep. What would be a good lift kit for this? Is there anything I should try to avoid when I lift my Jeep?

  1. There are TONS of possible lift kits out there for you. My suggestion would be to take some time and do a little bit of searching around on the internet. I would suggest a 4 inch lift because they fit 33" tires perfectly.

    Check out these sites:

Just as a warning, jeeps are addicting. once u start buying parts, its hard to stop.

  2. with the unlimited your at less of a chance of needed to get a new drive shaft to correct the driveline angle due to the longer wheelbase

for the best ride i would go with an O.M.E (old man emu) 2 inch suspension lift    with a J.K.S 1.25 inch body lift about 1200 dollars www.rokmen.com

if you dont go the money for that..

a Full Traction 3 inch lift would do good also and is fairly cheap    around about 800-900 dollars    www.northridge4x4.com

other brands would be Rubicon Express, Clayton, AEV (formely Nth degree)     i would go after one of these brands ive listed in my answer so far beccause they get the best reviews ive seen for Jeep lifts

  3. I have a 2006 TJ X.... Just lifted it up on 06/20/08... Rides pretty good (wranglers dont ride great anyway). With mine I did not need a drive shaft, it came with tranny drop case(sometimes hard to get it in reverse), and also came with shocks (some do not come with shocks like Rubican Express but is a good -expensive- product).

Manual tranny, 6cyl, 4'' Rough Country suspension lift ($550), M/T Classic II's 15x10, M/T Baja MTZ's 33x12.5, Bestop tire carrier, Rugged Ridge front & rear bumpers and sidesteps, alignment cam, and two 6'' KC daylighters.

Next is gears, axels, and a locker.

Mine looks great! Rides good! And I love it!

I use it for on and off road (99% on road). If you live in a hilly area you really need to put gears for climbing hills (if you have 31'' now and go to 33'' and have 373's change to 430's to keep it really close to stock ratio. 343's to 410's/ not sure what exact ratios are but that type basis will be close). I live in an area of very moderate hills and just pulling a

jet ski I have had to drop from 6th to 4th on a easy hill(on road).

Oh alignment cam is cheap 45-65 dollars (cant remember). 16'' rims look great but 15'' perform better in mud (floatablility) and also a lil cheaper. Oh and for a bumper make sure you get a towing rated bumper with hitch. And you will need to get a tire carrier soon cause it will mess up your back door at some point (heavy!)

    Good Luck!
