What is the best way for me to go about getting my license? I don't mind traveling abroad but it would have to be quite cheap. It needs to be under about £5000 and I have access to helicopters (R22/R44) and a light aircraft (Piper Tripacer) but I would also consider doing my National License in a micro light, any tips??

  1. Do you want to get a private pilot only or go for a career in aviation? I'm currently doing flight training in Panama (central america) It's cheap, a private pilot license runs for about for 5-6000 US. to get everything up to commercial, multi engine land IFR costs about 26,000 right now. The only catch is that a commercial license here only requires 150 hours, therefore to validate your license in the UK you must first fill the UK's hour requirement. There are helicopters here too,but wayy too expensive to even talk about hahaha

  2. I went to Florida for my PPL It costed me £3200 2 years ago and the $ have fallen sins so i guess that you could do it for about £2800 now. just remember you have to live there too so it Will probably be the same price as in the UK ( it was for me ) However I would still recommend Florida the country is bigger the airports is bigger the weather is better, and you will get the licenseee faster.

In the UK 12 months is normal for a licens I did mine in Florida in 6 weeks and that is the normal time there.

Some people might say that the certificates is not as good as a UK certificate - I would say there is NO difference.

I went to Naples Air Center in Florida and it was OK, Fast, Well organized and fun.

  3. I'm 13 and learning to fly in Hawarden NE wales. I would suggest going to a local airfield and asking for a quote to do within 1 yr if you come to Hawarden and were doing it in 1 yr it would cost £5542.50 this includes 45 Hours Flight Training, 12 Months Membership, ID Card, Pre and Post Flight Briefings, 1st Attempt at the 6 Main Ground Exams and the Skills Test Fee (JAR PPL). Their website is www.nwcas.co.uk.

But you can get good deals by going to Florida US and get the JAR PPL there.
