  1. I am in the exact same position!

The Oxford Aviation Academy is currently offering a scheme funding by Flybe.com. Other than A-levels it doesnt seem too selective, but you cant be sure until you apply.

I work for a well known budget airline (I'm cabin crew) and they offer sponsorship to long term employees so I'm currently doing my PPL modular to become eligiable but I can hardly afford it.

Try contacting flight schools directly. And let me know if you find anything good. All the best.

  2. Work and take flying lessons. I was a full time flight attendant and got my ratings through commercial that way, before becoming a pilot.

Sounds boring, but it can be done. Maybe you could live with your parents while taking flight lessons. You don't have to go through a flight school. They are WAY expensive and not really necessary.

If someone says they'll give you something for free, they're lying. No flight school will pay for you to fly, there are too many people trying to become pilots. If this is what you really want to do, you'll find a way. Even if it means taking longer to get your ratings.

  3. As another user had mentioned, airlines do offer sponsorship schemes where recruitments are selected and trained through their rigerous training schools and fast tracked to their ATPL.

As expected recruitments must have good qualifications such as A-levels and preferred flying experience.

Most pilots don't often take the sponsorship route, with more opportunity to just pay your way through the training, it is often the preferred method to getting the airline career.

It seems through your question that you want to make the funds available so that you can take the ab initio route, the route in which you can complete your intergrated PPL - ATPL in one package.

There are other ways to fly through your ratings and obtain the licenses you need.

By taking the slow progressive route you could hold a full time job, as your main income. Obtain your PPL and then slowly fly through your ratings onto your ATPL.

By using your main income to pay for the flying, this avoids the need to take out loans.

It is slow, but incredibly it is becoming more common since the cost of the ab initio package is incredibly expensive with added financial risks.

The second option, with some pursuation from you bank manager is to ask about the career development loan or other loans which are specifically aimed at funding a career.

Or perhaps if you are a homeowner, and whether you are willing to stretch this vision. A remortgage would make the funds available.
