And also to those of you who have sailed carnival before what is included in the price of the stateroom? Just trying to get a feel for if this is a feesable thing to do.

  1. I spent 1800 for the two of us for our cruise ship room....F level at H price

  2. The prices you see quoted on travel sites usually do not include the port fees and taxes.  Make sure your travel agent or vacation planner inlcudes these fees in any pricing discussions.

The price includes your cabin, dining and most on-board entertainment.

    Extras:

    1) Tips.  $10 per day per person.  Carnival charges these fees to your on-board account the moment you board.

    2) Bar drinks.  $4-12 each plus 15% gratuity.

    3) Sodas.  $1.75 per can.  Or you can buy a soda fountain card for about 35-40 bucks.  The sodas in your room are not free!

    4) Photos.  $20-22 per sheet.

    5) Spa services.  $50-200.

    6) Shore excursions.  $50-200.

    7) Bingo cards.  $5-10 per card.

    8) Casino.  $$$$

    9) Bottled water for shore trips.  $3-5.00 each.

    10) Parking fees at port or shuttle fees from airport.

    11) Tips for porters at cruise terminal.

    12) Taxis in port.

Other than the port fees, taxes, parking/shuttle and tips, all of the above are optional.

Carnival is a cashless system.  You open an on board account with a credit card or a cash deposit when you board. My sister always uses a cash deposit account so she does not over spend her budget.  I use  a credit card for convenience and get sticker shock at the end of the cruise.

Take plenty of $1, 5 and 10 in US dollars to spend in the open air markets.  Avoid the "malls".    They are expensive.

You don't have to do shore excursions.  Most ports of call have public beaches.  Just hire a taxi and tell the you want to go to the free beach.

We hosted a 20 person family reunion on the Carnival Ecstasy in 2006.  We spent an average of $800 per person for cabins and tips.  Each guest paid for their own incidential expenses.  My sister only spent $250.  I spend about $1,000.

  3. Instead of asking strangers on Yahoo Answers, why not contact Carnival and get one of their current brochures?  Read what is included and what is not included in the price.  Next, go to some travel agencies that specialize in cruises and get their prices.  Check them out with AASTA.  That is a much more efficient way of finding prices.

    You never pay brochure rates.

  4. The price includes meals and entertainment. Alcoholic and soft drinks cost extra. Port excursions cost extra.

  5. Nop sad, What are U staring @ ?

SupierStar Libra also avails @ nowhere ?

  6. all of your food and ice tea, coffee, fruit juices will be free.  canned pop will be about 2 per can.  drinks can be 5 - 15, depends on what you drink.  bottled water is a 2 per bottle.  the spa can be very expensive.  about 40 - 50 for a haircut/style.  massage is about 75 .

you can put a six pack of bottled water or canned pop in your luggage to bring on board.  you will have a mini fridge in your room to keep your drinks cold. the mini bar prices for water / chocolates, liqour/beer is very expensive.  on our last cruise some people brought those crystal light mini mix packages .i think you can bring a small amount of alcohol on board,  not sure though as the regulations seem to be changing.

see cruise critic.com , the message boards have a lot of information /feedback from people who have gone very recently.

you do not need to buy many shore excursions from the cruise.  If you are doing a western route, you will probably go to Jamaica.  This is the only island I would go on a cruise sponsered shore excursion for safety.

All the other islands, you can get off the ship and get a taxi.  It is much, much cheaper than going with the shore excursion the cruise sells.  In Grand Cayman, just ask to go to a beach on 7 mile beach.  Not sure, but think your other stop might be bahamas or possibly key west ?   if so, those are places you can get a cheap cab for.

nothing wrong in looking on the cruise website to see the shore excursions that they are offering to get ideas what to do .  then just tell the driver when you arrive where you want to go.  other companies presell the shore excursions too.  the cruise really jacks the prices way up.

    Bon Voyage!

  7. I have know idea, but can I go . Please, I'll be fun.

  8. $700 per person.  Everything except alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, souvenirs, and shore excursions.
