Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Pentax, Sony, Sigma... is there any I missed? If it came out in the last 2 or 3 years its pretty much a good camera. Now go to a camera store and see which one feels better in your hands.

I personally like the Sony A200.

Nikon has been my favorite all these years

take a look at the D40, D60, D70

and spend a little more on a good all around lens

like Nikkor's 16-85mm
