It is a HEIL down draft. Could I use this? Is there a way to hook it up to my vents?

  1. Probably.

Depends on a couple factors. First....is this downdraft vent out of the bottom face of the furnace, or the bottom of a side. If it's a side....you're good to go. If it's the bottom face , then you'd need to set the furnace on something (cement blocks probably) to provide enough space underneath to run duct work.

After that it's just a matter of connecting the new furnace to the old ductwork using a few new peices....A 90 degree elbow or two and a few strait peices ranging from 2-6 feet should probably be more than enough.

Shouldn't really even cost that much. Maybe 50-60 bucks worth of duct unless it's a really odd size.

  2. Nicholas, check the price of flat metal in today's reality.

    Used furnace?

Get a properly sized furnace designed to install in the proper configuration, or you will have more problems than you want to think about.

  3. Why not look at a different furnace? I don't think I'd buy something that I'd basically have to Mickey Mouse to connect it to my current system. HEIL and most other furnace manufacturers build a number of configurations to cover many different installation scenarios. Better to buy the right furnace to start with than try to force fit something.
