Lucerne...wonderful choice!!

I unfortunately cannot remember the name of the place I stayed, but it was absolutely charming. It was about 30 minutes from the city, right in the middle of the Alps.  Many of the rooms had balconies with great, scenic views.  Food was delicious as well (I was on an organized trip.)

I know this might not help...but the point is, perhaps try to find a place outside of the city for a true cultural experience :)
