I need to use it for commuting and want something that is good quality but don't need anything fancy. I love the looks of a Vespa but also have seen some nice looking Honda Scooters.

  1. Honda    all the way!!!!!

  2. Kymco hands down.  The others are good, but Kymco has a superb reputation, not only for good quality builds, but also for standing behind their products and customer support.  They come with a 2 year warranty which you probably wont need, and parts are readily available and easily attainable.

  3. Trust me, I am a major scoot buff. I have done plenty of research concerning scooters, and I can tell you right now that Piaggio is the way to go.

I myself am going to Purchase a Fly 150 sometime before October 15, since Piaggio has a promo going on for college students in which you get a free top case and $50 gas card with the purchase of a Fly 50 or 150. Piaggio scooters have the exact same engine as Vespas do, they just lack the steel body--they have a steel frame, but plastic body. Piaggio owns Aprilia (Scarabeo ringing a bell?), Gilera, Vespa, Moto Guzzi, and Derbi, among other companies. They know what they are doing. Vespa has been around since the 40s, so you can rest assured that Piaggio *knows* how to build a solid, dependable scooter. Also, it's Italian, so it'll be sleek, s**y, and long-lasting.

Kymco is a good scooter, too. It's Taiwanese, and my cousins in Holland have had problems with their Kymco People, so I don't know. It's a good name, though. However, it is not Piaggio.

Honda is an amazing company. Very reliable cars, motorcycles, and scooters. Personally, I don't like the way Honda scooters look in the States (I don't know where you live, so I'm assuming the US), but I have seen some beautiful Hondas in Italy when I was there a week ago, and would jump at the opportunity to buy one if Piaggio was out of the question.

I would rate the scooters in this order:

    Piaggio (by a long shot)

    Honda

    Kymco

If you live outside the US of in an area where the Piaggio Liberty is available, I would strongly recommend that particular scooter over the Fly. I saw *so* many Liberties in Europe when I went there earlier this month, and I heard that they are the top seller in Europe. Anyway, the Fly is a very good model which will last you quite some time. However, the decision is ultimately yours.

Your Fly will cost you approximately $3600 after shipping costs and the labor to put it together have been added (trust me--I went to my local Vespa dealer yesterday and got the price). Pretty pricey, but well worth it.

Good luck with whatever choice you make!

  4. They are all real good but the FLY is a new one on me sounds Chinese

  5. The Kymco is the best one you have listed , I never have to fix more than     normal maintenance on them , they honor their warranty. You will not be paying big money like you do for the j*p scooters. Kymco built motors for Honda 150cc and down. And Kymco is the largest and highest rated scooters besides Vespa and Piaggio

  6. If you are buying new I don't think Honda has a 150cc scooter out right now.

Piaggio is an Italian company but it is built in China.

You should also consider a Genuine Buddy. They have the retro look of a Vespa, excellent quality and a super loyal fan base.
