I can recommend Harvey Manger-Weil from The Uncommon Image without reservation.  Especially if you are looking for something very fresh, unique and artistic.  Harvey is a lot of fun and never in your face. He does a lot of wedding photojournalism, and his bar mitzvah and bat mitzvah photography has a photojournalistic feel.  Really the antithesis to the awful bar mitzvah photography of years ago. I think I remember that he was named best nyc bar mitzvah photographer by New York Magazine a couple of years back.  You should definitely check out his website, theuncommonimage.com
